Polyurethane coatings for decor applications
Hennecke Group; Jens Winiarz

A proven field of application for polyurethanes is the surface finishing of components, for example by coating them with transparent PUR systems using the RIM process (Reaction Injection Moulding). With the CLEARRIM technology, Hennecke offers an innovative concept and the appropriate machine technology for the amazingly efficient realisation of components with high-quality and functional surfaces. A thin polyurethane layer is used to effectively refine thermoplastic carrier elements or carrier elements with natural surfaces. In this way, users achieve scratch-resistant, durable and high-quality surface structures for decorative parts in the automotive sector, in the furniture industry or for countless other decorative elements. CLEARRIM is also suitable to be combined with other finishing processes.

Increased efficiency through technology combinations in the mould
Siegfried Hofmann GmbH; Dr. Michael Schütz-Waigand

Cost reduction in the production process can be achieved not only through classic cycle time optimisation: The smart combination of different technologies in a single mould can save manpower, time and material in subsequent production. The combination of PU, films with electronic components and injection compression moulding in a single mould not only opens up new product possibilities, but also increases production efficiency. We expect PU technology to receive a further boost from the reduction in coating thickness. Dr Michael Schütz-Waigand, Managing Director of Siegfried Hofmann GmbH, will explain exactly how we can achieve this in his presentation.

09:35

PURedge - the new technology for IMC

10:00

Innovative surfaces by using modern laser technology
Reichle Technologiezentrum GmbH; Ron Horeth

The basics of laser technology in connection with the process, high reproducibility of the structures, precision and global consistency through centralised data management. We will also discuss the advantages of femtolaser technology, which enables sharp edges with a minimum radius of 10-20 µm and micro-optics below 100 µm. Finally, we will present the latest developments to achieve 2D and 3D optical effects targeting interior components with high aesthetic and functional requirements. This presentation will give an insight into how laser texturing can address the growing complexity of structures in the automotive industry by providing a scalable, sustainable and flexible approach to surface processing.

Deep learning for quality inspection in industrial production
Polymer Competence Center Leoben GmbH; Prof. Dieter P.Gruber, Angelika Hable

In industrial manufacturing, ensuring product quality is a critical aspect of maintaining efficiency, reducing waste and meeting customer expectations. Deep learning methods have proven to be a powerful tool for automating quality inspection processes. In the form of case studies, we will demonstrate high speed quality inspection on complex shaped 3D-freeform injection molded as well as polyurethane flooded components.

14:20

Monitoring of in-mould coating processes by using in-situ sensor technology
NETZSCH Process Intelligence GmbH; Dr. Nicholas Ecke

The quality of the coating achieved during in-mould coating can be impaired by material and process fluctuations. The presentation will introduce a system for in-situ monitoring of the process that combines tool-based sensors for material characterisation with data evaluation using machine learning. In particular, this makes it possible to predict the expected adhesive strength.
